I am about to fit a Powerspark electronic ignition module to my 1975 Celica 1600 to replace the old points. I have a ballasted resistor type coil set-up at present and wish to replace the coil with a Lucas DLB198 12V coil (with no resistor). Simple question I hope, how do I re-wire the coil circuit to remove the ballast resistor?

Cheers

Depends where the ballast resistor is.

Have you checked the wire to the coil to see if it has 12v or not ?

Some may use a separate resistor, but many use resistive wire.

As said you first need to find the resistor or resistor wire and bypass it.
You may also find another wire coming to the positive side of the coil from the starter...this could now be removed.
