the lpg gas system is not working properly as the fine slits in the distributor have become part blocked with dirt - so the mixture at constant throttle is weak causing misfiring . however the engine management light has come on and diagnostics say this is a lambda sensor fault. engine runs well on petrol.

does anyone know if weak mixture and misfiring might trigger a lambda sensor fault code or indeed if a lambda sensor fault might trigger weak mixture and rough running. or are the two issues likely to be unrelated.

It's likely to be your misfires allowing more unburnt air through the engine, which it spots as a mixture problem.
