As far as I know, there are basically two kinds of fuel pressure regulators for turbo injected engines;

There is the fixed type which is held into the end of the fuel rail with a clip and available in different pressures and interchangeable, like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Z20LET-X20XEV-3-3-bar-fu...

Then the fully adjustable ones like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Precision-Fuel-Pressure-...

Speaks for itself....

A pipe runs from the intake plenum to the FPR (both types) and the varying air pressure alters the fuel pressure accordingly; More air pressure = more fuel pressure hence more fuel.

So what does this thing do:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110862983172?ssPageName=...

??

I can understand some kind of blanking plug would be needed when converting from fixed type to adjustable, but why the heck does it have a take off pipe on it?
No clues on the Ebay ad or on FSEs site either.

Answers on a postcard to the usual address otherwise I'll give them a ring and report back....

It replaces this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-COUPE-2-0-20V-TURBO...

to allow the fitting of http://go.redirectingat.com/?id=1044X509854&si...

Where the original FPR bleeds excess fuel flow back to the tank within the fuel rail, when fitted with an adjustable FPR, the connection is made to the rail on the lower fitting and the excess is bled off externally through the upper fitting.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't understand. What is upper and lower fitting?
If fitting this new item and an adjustable FPR we will be left with 5 petrol pipe ends (+ one for air pressure).
We will have:

FPE in/out
Petrol tank in/out
One from the new fitting.

Where does the pipe from this new fitting go to?

Hard to see what you dont understand ?

The fitting in your link simply replaces the OEM FPR and allows the fitment of a remote FPR.

What upper and lower fitting are you referring to ?

The new adaptor fits on your old fuel rail and you then run a pipe from the adaptor to a new FPR (which you will need to buy separately).

Which also means this: buying the adaptor on its own is pointless, it's only needed if you want to buy and fit a new, adjustable FPR.

We have a winner. clap (I rang FSE today and asked them too).
You would need to blank off the old return from the rail and do some work on the fuel pipes aswell.

Seems a fair bit of work just to fit an adjustable FPR when you can replace the original style one easily and cheaply enough with ones of various different pressures.....

Blank off the return ?

That adaptor is there so you have a return. That's the whole point of it. And it isnt a lot of work, it's standard practise for fitting a remote FPR to pretty much any modern efi car
