Anyone watching this?
Not too sure about this Guy Martin geezer, he comes across as some kind of weird offspring of a booze fuelled liaison between Gonzo off of the Muppet show and Paul Daniels, he's an impressionists dream! Wonder how much of his enthusiasm is put on for the camera...

Something which I found amazing was the water powered turbine in the latest episode:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQrb4qZK5YM&fea...

130 yrs old and all it needed was a bit of a repair and a service to make it work again. The way they had used the draw of the river to pull it as well as the water which was being pushed in showed some absolute brilliance and reminded me of how the exhaust port gasses are used to help pull in the inlet charge in a cylinder.

The turbine itself? Surely the forerunner to the variable vane turbocharger, nothing's new is it?

Perhaps you don't know who Guy Martin is?

He can normally be found throwing a motorcycle around the Isle of Mann at insain speeds. People who do that tend to be a little 'different' to you or I.

Brilliant series and Guy is a great presenter. He's like a young Fred Dibnah (RIP).

Yes I know who he is (there is an introduction to him on the programme) and also know people who know him personally too. Having heard differing points of views about him, but never met him i'll just have to label him as 'interesting'! My comments were probably irreverent and irrelevant and I'm just enjoying watching the show.

he does seem to be acting up a bit for the camera on this series. He did seem a bit more natural on the previous canal boat series last year.

I think it's a great series. I'm sure he's acting up a bit for the camera but he has a great enthusiasm for the engineering which is infectious. My wife has been sitting down to watch it with me as well.
