Right, let's talk back of envelope man mechanics here. I've got a weber carb from a 1.6, and a 1.4 engine (both ford cvh).
Fitment aside, am I correct in thinking that while it's an upgrade in terms of fuel flow etc, there would be no significant change (if any) without improved zorsts, internals etc?
The carb was free, off an orion. To be fair carbs are one of the few things I understand well, I'd love to be able to just plonk it on and see what happens but I doubt fitment will be particularly simple
By all means, let me know if I will nuke the engine
I'd love to get an rs turbo engine but for now bolting stuff onto the 1.4 sounds fun

I'd love to get an rs turbo engine but for now bolting stuff onto the 1.4 sounds fungo for it.. why not, you can always put the old one back on.
it will over-fuel the little 1.4 though unless you get it re-jetted. ( lots of pops bangs and flames if you have a straight through exhaust )
on the other-hand its a good start for a cheap turbo conversion using cheap basic parts.. like rising rate fuel pressure regulators

I was considering a turbo conversion but to be frank when rs turbo engines seem to be pretty cheap it would make diddling with the original pointless. it will over-fuel the little 1.4 though unless you get it re-jetted. ( lots of pops bangs and flames if you have a straight through exhaust )

Still might fiddle with it though. the entire car probably doesn't have long left unless a lot of money/time is invested, of which I don't really have either so I'd rather just get some cheap fun out of it

Rising rate FPRs are for injection systems..it will over-fuel the little 1.4 though unless you get it re-jetted. ( lots of pops bangs and flames if you have a straight through exhaust )
