Hi. Any body got any experience of blow through type turbo set up on carb fed bike engines?

Just considering future options for hillclimber and based on the fact I have some nice racey bits in my old oil cooled GSXR 1100 motor I was wondering if a blow through turbo might be a viable route to extra/cheap bhp rather than starting a fresh with new normally aspirated K7/K8 etc?

Don't really want to chop frame about, get new exhaust, new driveshafts, injection pumps, rads etc..moving to a more modern engine when current motor is knocking out reasonable power.

Any advice on pitfalls, false economies, sucess stories etc..welcome

A lot will depend on the carb design, unless you intend to fully encapsulate the entire carb setup with a boost plenum.

But there is no reason for it not to work.

I have a GSX-R 1100 '86 turbo. It's dead easy. Make an alloy plenum where the airbox goes. Connect fuel bowl vents to said plenum, this fools the carbs to think the whole atmosphere is boosted. Add a fuel pump and a Lotus-Malpassi fuel pressure regulator sat at 2 psi boost, more and they will flood. Add 40-50#'s bigger mainjets and lift the stock needle 1 click and you can make 240hp easy.. or in my case, other side of 300..
