Skoda Octavia gearbox problem

Hi,
I have an 04, 5 speed Octavia VRS. When the car has been running for sometime and gets really hot I start to have probelms with gear selection. The gear stick becomes very stiff and does not spring load between 3-4th. When you change gear you have to carfully guide the gearstick and it feels like you are bumbping into internal workings of the gearbox. When I start the car from cold and do short trips there doesn't seem to be a problem. Maybe something is expanding when gearbox gets really hot? Anyway, any advice or ideas gratefuly received.

Have you checked the oil level?

Many thanks for the reply. Hope oil level was checked. I did raise the issue with my garage. Car has just been serviced and they did lube the gear stick and check the gear linkages.

Someone has suggested the dual mass flywheel could be on its way out. Any thoughts?
