The IND light is failing on my Porsche 924. The alternator charges but I'd like everything working so want to track down any wiring faults. I also need an HID light kit fitted at the same time, and potentially a new speedometer and a couple of other bits and pieces. Nothing ECU related, all ancillaries.

I have a covered garage to work in at my house, can anybody recommend an auto electrician? I estimate it's about a days work.

Eventually I sat down with my "Fundamentals of Motor Vehicle Technology" book, spent some time on Google, and sorted the IND light problem myself. It was as simple as fixing a loose connection on the warning light cluster. I also installed the HID light kit, which wasn't as daunting as I expected. A new Speedhut rev counter with shift light http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOxrgluNsLk goes in next, followed by a mini car stereo.

I found this shop: http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/ and have ordered some block connectors to neaten up the bodged wiring (PO - natch) I found.

A very enjoyable weekend and about £500 saved I reckon. Learning the basics of auto electrics is very rewarding. Just thought somebody out there would like to know. smile

It's all good stuff. Automotive wiring can be a pain sometimes.
And its always pleasing to fix something yourself
