Hi guys, my mate has a Renault traffic and it cuts out at junctions anmd will only start with 'easy-start'.
He's been ripped off already to the tune of over £400 by the garage he first bought it from who was supposed to have fixed it. Any ideas where to look? Cheers. thumbup

What size engine?
Cam sensors are typical, or the timing itself causing it to go out of sync bring up a DTC1808 code. Has it had a cambelt recently?

Thanks Mike, it's a 1.9. Supposedly had a service and fault fixed, not even evidence of a service being done let alone fault fix. Appreciate any advice.

A few basic things to check are the fuel pressure, should be around 300 bar when cranking, and the cam timing. I went out to look at a non starter the other day and it kept bringing up a problem with the camshaft sensor, turns out they changed the belt and damaged the pick up point on the cam sprocket so the sensor wont pick it up. But that completly refused to start.
Best thing to do is get any codes read, make a note, delete them all, then take it for a drive and when the problem reoccures read the codes again, if any..

Easy start ? stop right there. Assuming there are no stored codes, and it starts from cold why does it need easy start ? It is the work of the devil, masks other symptoms until the engine is so poorly nothing will save it.
