Hi there guys I am looking to replace the omex rev limmiter on my global gt with one of those two stage dynatech rev limiters. The car is fitted with a Yamaha 4xv engine on carbs. I have no faith in the omex unit that’s on the car and I am looking for opinions in the dynatech one or any suggestions as to a reasonably priced alternative. This is the one I am currently considering

£200 for a rev limiter ? Crikey.

What's wrong with the Omex ?

And What sort of ignition system does the engine use ?

There should be a limiter built into the standard ecu?

Dyna stuff is very good, used it on my drag bikes.

If its running the Yam control box, the limiter will be built into that.

think i saw that under one of the pannels but im not certain i will have a better look when i get chance to get some work done on it.this may be a stupid question but please bear with me as i know nothing about carbs or bike engines but what does that control box manage exactly just the igniyion timing or more? if i have a rev limiter then thats a bonus as i dont think i will need to raise the rev limit over stock when i finally get the big spec engine in.still i will have to rewire the car either way as i have had a few other electrical problems and the loom isn't brilliant

If it's on carbs it will just control the ignition, hence it should have a good rev limiter in it already if it's still fitted. Otherwise I'd be tempted to get it mapped to your specifications rather than spunking loads of money on a 3rd party limiter.

^^what he said.

BTW, that two stage limiter os for drag racing, you only need a single stage really.

In that case, fill yer boots!

I think in all honesty though, if you want to do regular strip work, I would be looking at a slipper or lock up clutch - could save another motor and might make things a bit softer for the motor on launch too.

the interim motor has a barnett racing clutch but i will look into the slipper for the new engine build still trying to figure out wether to turbo or stay N/A

Not many people put blowers on the R1s. Its been done, but for ultimate power it would have to be a Superstreet 'Busa set up - thick end of £15k ish minimum I reckon.

i can get about 270- 300hp for around 4500 grand and the next rebuild would be less but its working out a compramised set up that wont grenade itself after a few runs that would deliver my targets. As much as i would like to fit a hayabusa it isn't economicaly viable
