HI . is it advisable to tow an automatic Merc 150 miles with an A-frame ? Somewhere at the back of my brain cell I recall that the box oil pump will not be running and starve the internals, so causing damage. Is this right?.................cheers like !

You will need to disconnect/remove the propshaft or it will knacker the autobox.

HI , understand the meaning but how do you stop box oil from coming out and then running dry ?

Disconnect it at the differential end?

Obviously it'd be preferable to transport the car with a spec lift, flat bed or trailer so that the driven wheels are off the ground.

No because it would be illegal!!!!!! Hence invalid insurance
They are only legal if the cars brakes are hooked up or you are recovering a broken down car to a place of safety....
