gt 1241 turbo question
Discussion
Hello there,
I'm replacing the spring seals on the garret gt12 turbo as they failed, I removed the compressor/turbine central shaft but I'm not 100% sure if the central journal can be tapped out of the housing with a drift or if it is held in place with circlips?
I suspect it can be tapped out but has anyone any experience of this turbo?
Cheers.

Might as well answer this in case anyone else needs to know
The central brass journal is held in place by a small grub screw that can be seen by looking down into the oil feed shaft. It has an unusual head that doesn't seem to be a standard allen key head size.
A repair kit doesn't come with a replacement, so go easy on the head.
