i am half way through a water pump and timing belt change on a v6 mitsubishi shogun, and was after some advice. i took some pictures prior to removing the belt and this is what i found:

now my camshafts appear to be ok, but i am a little concerned by the crank. it is approximately 2-3 teeth away from the marker. when i checked the workshop manual is says:

do i stick with "if it aint broke dont fix it"? or do i align the crankshaft timing mark when i fit the new belt?

Cams still need to go clockwise a little.

Locating these right will make the crank closer, but it does still appear incorrect.

Always re-align to manufacturers markings or spec for your specific engine.
