Hi im working on a fiesta 1.25 DUROTEC
It was sounding tappety so I pulled the rocker cover but all is fine
So I then pulled the plugs and checked the pistons with my camera when I noticed to marks on each piston on the induction side on all four was wondering if anyone knows if it's manufacturing marks or the timeing has slipped before I pull the head thanks

Show us the pictures then, and give some history as to the problem.

If the timing had slipped that would retard the inlet valve timing and move the valves away from the pistons at TDC rather than cause interference. The exhaust valves would move closerIf you have regular marks on all the pistons then it is likely that they are their for clearance purposes.

If you can find a picture of a piston somewhere on the web you may be able to see if that is the case.
