VW Passat 2011-2014 Locking Issues
Discussion
I have recently bought a new VW Passat (the 2011-14 model). The key fob is enormous and the buttons on the key are very large, not recessed in any way and are very easy to press by mistake. In a short time I have managed to inadvertently open my boot on three occasions because the button got pressed in my pocket while I was away from the car (the range of this fob is huge - 30 yards+ !)
Is there any way of disabling this? Reducing the operational range of the fob down to just a few feet? Making the boot lid only open with the handle? Using a different/smaller key fob?
I can't believe that VW sell so many millions of these cars and no-one has identified this as a major problem before. It is driving me nuts! I have to keep going out to check the car to make sure no-one has moved the keys and accidentally opened the boot or unlocked the car.
