Hi,
I have just got a Nissan Cabstar 35-13 year 2011 and it has a slight misfire and the idle seems a bit low/lumpy.

Pulled the plugs off each injector but everyone seems to make it cut back, starts well enough and seems to clear further up the rev range and do not have any engine lights on the dash.

Runs cleanly without smoking in fact once warm it runs slightly better.

Lastly it has 79,000k, all levels are in place and no apparent head gasket issues but the oil is a bit black and sludgy, any ideas where to start or is it better to get it hooked up at the dealers for a diagnostic?

I've just done an egr valve on one and had to go to the main agent to get it initialised as my and other mates diag kit couldn't do it . I'd get a diag at the dealer to be accurate as parts are pretty expensive to guess with . For some reason bits are much cheaper in Ireland for these

1st stop the basics, when was it last serviced?

If not for a while, treat it to a proper service, and have a good look at everything under the bonnet while you are doing so.

Check all hoses, clips, connectors, clamps, etc on or around the engine.

Change oil/filter, change plugs(if petrol)/air filter/fuel filter.

Then if you still have the problem get a full diagnostic done at the main stealer.

Alternatively bite the bullet & get them to do the lot.
