Rear silencer hanger

My '05 Fiesta ST rearmost hanger has just rusted through on my drive home today.

I'm not going to be able to get it to a garage for at least a couple days, I can see the bit the hanger would go through so was going to try a bodge repair, I've not got wire just some cord (5 or 6 mm accessory cord from climbing) do back boxes get particularly hot, enough to melt cord that is?

Or should I try and find some wire?

They do still get fairly hot. If the cord is expendable you could try it though, if you want to keep it...dont try.

Got a metal coat hanger or some old electrical flex?

We've driven a couple of hundred miles home with a backbox held up with ordinary kitchen string before. I'd have thought cord would do if it's only for a few tens of miles for a couple of days.
