Any LPG experts here?

I converted my van to LPG last year .. after a lot of twiddling with mixer plate height, timing and the vapouriser adjusters, I have it set up so it runs nice, apart from a little popping on the overrun.
.. problem is, I did a long run on it last week (150miles or so) and got about 9mpg. On petrol it was getting on for 20mpg.
It also smells too much of gas on tickover I think.
I thought this would point to it being too rich.. but it doesn't run well if it's much leaner!
Thanks for any help.. I can give more info on the system if needed.

I had exactly the same problem on my V6 Cavalier after LPG conversion. It was adjusted to run as lean as possible at idle, but guzzled fuel in normal use.
It turned out to be the Lambda Sensor. Since the LPG injector piggy backs off the existing fuel injection system, it uses the signal from the Lambda to control fuel flow/mixture.

Numbnuts on here is a mate and a qualified lpg installer. I am sure if you email him via his profile he will talk you through it.
He did a top job installing my system on the Jeep cherokee.
