I was looking at a RAV4 on ebay. The seller got it MOT’d while the auction was in progress, only for it to fail on these points. What’s the likely costs in fixing these fail issues?

Car is a manual.

As per title, I wasn't reffering to these.

Thanks. I've just searched PH for emissions MOT fail threads, and yes, it seems like the exact cause/s has to be identified before putting a price on it.

Well done.

Sorry for the sarcastic replies, mine included but, you might as well have said "my car has broken down what will it cost to fix?"

Luckily my local tester lets me turn up & use his emissions tester if he isn't using it himself, this is vital in checking such problems.

Typical start point.

Oil & filter change, check exhaust for any leaks, check/clean all engine breathers then retest.

Depending on the results would tell me what to try next.

If you knew the actual emission test results (and what threshold values they were applying for the test) you might be able to get some idea of how big a problem you have to fix.

I suspect that if it were going to be a cheap fix the seller would have had it done!
One to leave alone I would say.
