EGR Delete - worth it or not?
Discussion
I have the option of having an EGR Delete at the same time as a remap. Is the benefit worth it or should I keep the non-remapped bits as standard as possible?
I've heard that the EGR is occasionally is useful in that the engine requires less than the 20% oxygen in the air, under certain circumstances or is it there just to satisfy regulations

When I had my 320d remapped I declined the EGR delete because it does serve a purpose/function and If its working correctly then why remove it.
Not sure if it's the same on your specific vehicle but some cars can smoke a lot more without a EGR and all that soot is going straight into someone's lungs. I do a lot of miles and you can always tell which car has had EGR deleted as they absolute stink if your following along with huge clouds of s
te.
Haven't noticed any more smoke than usual out the back post mapping.

Hi!
I'm a new guy in this forum but anyway.. Is it possible that too much engine oil could cause problems with the EGR system? The dipstick has now atm got oil a little over the MAX level.
The Emission Workshop light on the dashboard went on. Then I cleaned the EGR. After that, I went driving again and after approx. 4 km the Emission Workshop light went off in the same way. Is there too much engine oil?
Thanks for helping!

Do you guys have any thoughts and ideas about my question?

Where's the excess oil coming from? Could well be that the sump's being filled with unburnt diesel after failed DPF regeneration attempts.Hi! I'm a new guy in this forum but anyway.. Why does nobody like using the word "remove" anymore? "Delete" sounds utterly pathetic. You don't delete an EGR valve, you remove it.

Because its often 'deleted' from the software to prevent it from opening. And not removed. So 'Removal' would be an incorrect term.
Very occasionally EGR operation is disabled (neither deleted nor removed) via the ECU, but usually the valve is either removed entirely or retained and a thin blanking plate fitted to prevent it passing any exhaust gas. Nothing has been deleted.Hope it's not raining this weekend, I plan to do a dirt delete on my car.
