You will come out!

It was never going to be easy, I don't know why, but they are known for the water to leak from the base of the windscreen onto the top of the engine where it sits around the injectors and glowplugs. Despite that most of them came out, but there is always one....
We needed the whole engine apart, but you can't get the head off without taking the intake manifold off and the injectors are bolted through that. The manifold is plastic so you can't lever against it, so we welded a fitting to the injector and hung the engine from it. Whilst it twisted backwards and forwards it still refused to come out, so we welded on a slide hammer on so we could hammer it whilst it was hung from an engine crane; it came straight out.
The design of the G9U is interesting, the inlet manifold has 8 runners, 4 long go the traditional way through the side of the head, but the other four take a shorter route through the top of the head. Four long and four short make for a good swirl motion I guess.
