Clutch thickness
Discussion
Hi guys
Looking to change clutch in Vauxhall Combo as the pedal is biting near top and pedal has gone quite hard to press.
I’ve been giving (for a small fee) a dual mass clutch and flywheel I know the flywheel is LUK as the part no. And stamp are present it certainly
Looks the 200mile it claims it has been covered
The clutch has no name stamped there are no. But the my don’t bring Anything up in a google search, again looks almost new
But what would be the thickness of the plate when brand new

If you're talking about the pressure plate then it's easy to see if it's worn or blue from overheating. Long term use also puts grooves in the release fingers from the release bearing contact. The friction disc should have at least 1mm or so above the rivets on both sides if it's newish and still be light in colour not darkened from oil and dust impregnation.
Having seen hundreds of clutches...I've never come across a road car clutch at 10mm or more.
You dont state what model of Combo, engine/box. But 9mm new would be quite reasonable. ( I've a few here at around low 8's, 1.7 CDTI. They have a decent amount of miles, but very very light use. )

It’s a combo 1.7cdti
Bit off putting is the fact here is no stamp on clutch anywhere just some numbers
Although the dual mass is stamped LUK so that’s something
LUK friction disc will have LUK on it. Although I've a couple of different material designs here which is a bit odd. Vauxhall disc has LUK and GM printed on it.Bit off putting is the fact here is no stamp on clutch anywhere just some numbers

Cover also has LUK stamped into it around the edge near one of the bolts. Vauxhall cover same but also with some other bits painted on as well as GM.
Obviously there are other makes that may be marked differently or not at all. It's a fair amount of work to do the job...I'd prefer known product in there.
Note gearbox side marked on the disc ( in german ) and supposed to use new flywheel bolts, although pretty sure that's only for the loctite on them as the holes protrude through into the crankcase area so need sealer.
I've re-used bolts before with no issue, just loctite them before torquing.
