Intermittent issue with 2002 Fiesta 1.4tdci

Hello all.

My Fiesta has recently started to exhibit a very peculiar issue. Occasionally whilst driving along it will seem to misfire and the dash lights will dim for about half a second. I know it can't be a misfire as it's a diesel so what could it be?

Thoughts so far are the fuel filter but how would a restriction there cause the car to hesitate.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Coinciding with the dash lights suggests an electrical problem.

Dodgy earth, dodgy injector, dodgy crank or cam sensor. Without scanning it and reading data it's a stab in the dark
