Relay - piggy backing onto an ignition feed?
Discussion
I wonder if anyone here has a bit of experience with car electrics. Basically, I have a voltage sensing relay but for it to work correctly it requires an ignition feed. Would the best approve for this to be connecting onto some device from the main fuse box, say the rear wipers or something that is only active when the ignition is on.
If so, how would I 'tap' into that device. The wires are really hard to access behind the fuse box. It would take me half a day to get it all off and put it back together again (if I even knew how)
Thanks

Thanks fellas...
In the end I saw a video on youtube where this geezer slipped a wire in the teeth of a fuse. So I copied them and did the same right into my air conditioning fuse. Why I have that I don't know as my motor doesn't even have an AC. Sweet deal though as that thing only runs when the engine is turning so ideal for running back to my relay. No purchase required :-)

Hard to guess what you mean by that, but one interpretation is that you trapped the bare end of a wire between the fuse holder and the fuse, which is a terrible approach.
Really? I mean, it's not a pro job but all the relay does is 'sense' when there's a voltage running through. There's no draw being taken by either a non existent AC or the relay, which is just a probe.triangularmonkey said:

I 100% guarantee there is no voltage running through it....... There may be some current flowing through it though & an approach like that could well mean that it is a high current due to the bodged installation & that is exactly what can cause the car to burst into flames!!!!Go for it!
