Fiat ducato 1986 mk1 5th gear
Discussion
Hi there,
So my wife and I are currently touring around Europe in our mk1 1986 fiat ducato and all is well....until the other day when I tried to put it into 5th gear it didn't seem to quite engage properly and made and strange rumbling noise and shuddering feeling. I knocked it back into 4th then tried 5th again, problem solved.
This has happened a few times since.
Any ideas what's going on????
I spoke to a guy back in UK and he thought it sounds like the nut holding 5th gear place is loose so not aligning properly. We return to UK on March 5th so I guess I'll have to take it to a gearbox specialist????
Once it's in 5th it's OK.
Annoying..
Any ideas????
Cheers,
Kev

Its a standard feature!
The linkages are the problem, they wear & finally the lever wont have enough reach. There is a chap in Sussex who does a fix for these. Its not expensive.
