Whats up with my car?
Discussion
It's been behaving oddly for a while, maybe last four months or so...
It revs very slowly and feels very slow to accelerate for a good while...Perhaps the first 30 minutes of the journey.
Now it does seem that if I drive it at high revs, or blip the throttle a bit this seems to encourage it out of its go slow mode a bit quicker. But for example, if I drove for 30 minutes from cold without driving without blipping throttle or driving at high revs then even in the last minute of driving it would feel very slow.
It has been serviced very recently (Unfortunately I didn't mention this fault) and also displayed this behavior before service.
It does go on regular 2 hour drives.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong, or anything cheap that i could try such as a fuel additive?
I also wondered if it would be worth having the engine carbon cleaned?
It's a Mazda 3 Sport 180. 120k Miles

I guess you're thinking of injectors blocked by carbon build-up. I don't know how likely that is but if it caused problems wouldn't they be permanent? If I understood you correctly, the engine runs normally after half an hour or so. Does this engine use any sort of EGR system that might be sticking? I wonder whether a DPF that is needing frequent regens for some reason might give you variable performance. Finally, perhaps a sensor problem is prompting the ECU to limit power - although I can't imagine why that would come and go so consistently.
Well, brief update for anyone interested and future reference...
Bought a 325ml bottle of "Wynns Turbo Diesel Cleaner"
Ran it through with a tank of fuel
The issue is 90% gone (Have done a further 600 miles now) I get the problem far far less and when it does occur it disappears much quicker.
Just bought another bottle - hoping that will completely resolve the issue.
Guessing & hoping with 122k miles on the clock there was a build up of crud somewhere that Wynns has helped remove.
Thanks for the contributions
