Nissan Qashqai engine problem
Discussion
Hello ,
Looking for some help here. The timing belt has gone on my 61 plate 1.5 diesel qashqai acenta and it has completely wrecked the engine, so need another engine. Model I have is a k9k, j10.
I have seen another k9k engine being sold from a salvage operator based in Wales, but it says it is for a j11, which I think (and I don’t pretend to be an expert at all) is for the newer version of qashqai.
Will this still fit my car, I’ve read that it should as is the same model engine , but just don’t want to fork out for something and then find it doesn’t fit?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Does the J notation refer to the engine or chassis it is fitted to ?
I'm sure that 1.5 diesel engine is very common, as a lot of marques seem to share engines these days...but it would only take a small handful of differences to cause a lot of fitment problems.
And you'd need to find out how easy a swap is, as sometimes injectors and pump can be coded to the vehicle, which may be easy or difficult to resolve.
In short...you need to find someone very familiar with the engines and any variations...of which there could be many ! But as a bare engine swap, it could be fairly easy.
