Who's got one fitted? Are they worth fitting?

They're quite common for non-roadgoing track cars, and anything involved in motorsport. The alternative is routing the breather into the intake, which is great for the environment but not for performance.

The oil vapours actually lower your effective octane rating of the final fuel/air mixture in layman's terms.

It also leaves messy oil residue inside intercoolers/manifolds etc.

I have one and yes, they are worth it.

Emission controls mean that you can't vent the crankcase to the atmosphere so the manufacturer's lazy way of getting around the issue is routing oils and gases that get past the PCV valve back into the engine, via the intake manifold. In the case of my car, that means oil pooling in the intake manifold that causes smoky cold starts and eventually contaminates inlet valve stems and seats.

I ran a twin oil catch can setup on my heavily modified MPS. Amazing the amount of crap they caught.

Mitsubishi shoguns have a habit of clogging up their manifolds with oil residue. After having mine chemically cleaned under warranty due to it constantly going into limp mode I fitted an aftermarket filter on the CCV pipe with a hose that can be emptied.

not sure if you can see that, but im using a pair of an10 lines from the rocker cover to a 2ltr oil catch can with a filter on top, at the moment the picture was taken ive done the one on the right and just about to cut the pipe for the one on the left

You do realise you need a licence to distil alcohol in the UK?

Lots of guys have run catch cans or breather deletes on the VW TFSI engine. Most go back to OEM PCV once they realise it causes running issues. YMMV

Its not the loom his ribbing but the coiled copper pipe laugh cant say I'm a K fan but that thing looks the nuts bow

easiest way to cool the hot exhaust gases down before they reach the pressure sensor.

Shooting for 600bhp next month which is alot for a k series so need to make sure I capture as much data as is economical to do so.

no issues with the engine on the dyno, just ran out of fuel pump at 520bhp, will put a bigger one in and return

Ive done something similar on my dax, and tbh it smokes like a steam train. It looks like it should work, but the oil vapour seems to ignore all of the wire wool pretty much. I don't really know how much gets trapped, but a fair amount gets out.
