I have a Mazda MX5 Mk3 2.0 with an intermittent fault.
When I go for a short run (up to an hour) I have no problems.
On occasion, on a long run, I cannot get it into any gear after a while, it’s slowly gets worse until it’s not possible. If at this point I turn the ignition off it will go into all gears without a problem.
I took it into my local garage and they could not find the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue.

It was the clutch slave cylinder.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll get it checked out. Any idea how much it would cost?

I think that the cylinder itself was about £35. Labour & materials (fluid) another £50.

But you might have a faulty master cylinder or perhaps water in the fluid which causes a problem when hot.

I'm sure that a local garage will sort it.

If you have no visible leaks get the fluid renewed its actually one of my pet hates with garage servicing the few that actually carry out BF servicing never do the clutch fluid at the same time its all the same fluid and degrades at the same rate frown it can transform clutch operation , might be worth checking the oil level in the gearbox too if its low it can overheat and cause shifting woes
