Leaking Injector

Now shifting to mechanical issues , so spanner work here , health on other thread
Copied my OP
Mainly health , with a bit of mechanics thrown in .
For the last couple of weeks or more , each time I stop in traffic , in a queue etc , I was getting a waft of exhaust fumes , mainly diesel , thought nothing of it, just the car in front , so turned fan off until moving off .
This got worst, and at the same time I was ending the day with a bit of a headache .
At the start of the BH break, the headache was not getting better , and whilst fiddling with other things on the van , I noticed the exhaust fumes were in fact coming from the van .
Bonnet up and I was greeted with a stench of exhaust fumes .At first I could not figure where exactly the fumes were coming from , leaking exhaust ? leaking EGR? Hummm
I then googled for suggestions , and one was to check injectors to see if a seal was failing . BINGO , one of the injectors was quietly chuffing away and leaking fumes , strangely, the performance of the van was unaffected, but the fumes were being drawn into the cab
Today I have run to and from dealers to get new seals , no fan running , window open , clear head .

Interesting though , the nuts holding the injector in were just about hand tight , the correct torque is 4nm + 75deg .
So I just did them up tight to get by , and no gas leak !! Hummm
I then checked the rest , and all took an easy half turn
Worth a look

What are the other possibilities? Sometimes I get a whiff when I use the fan. Just wonder if it's a similar issue.
Just finished trying to remove injector, but it is stuck in , going to the Phirm with my son Blue32 to have some steering issues sorted , so will get them to have a look .Interesting though , the nuts holding the injector in were just about hand tight , the correct torque is 4nm + 75deg .

On the 1.6 HDi (DV6) it's extremely common for the clamping force on these to back off and make the injector seals leak, in fact it's virtually expected behavior with these engines. Injector seals that have been leaking for a long time cause the oil to carbonise which can result in turbo failure to to blocked oil lines, so definitely not something to be ignored.
