Mazda 6 2.5 Petrol 2008 80K Miles

After 20-30 Mins the Temp gets to 3/4 Mark or a little Higher cruising in 5th/6th around 2K RPM
If I drop a Gear or two but keep the same Road Speed the Temp drops back to the Middle.

No work done on the Cooling System since I have had it (18 Months). Nothing in the Indy or Mazda Service History.
Guessing the Long Life (11 Year Life) Coolant has never been changed.

My thought is the only thing I am changing by increasing the Revs is the Water Pump Speed.

Well noticed.

Not saying this is your issue but had exactly the same several years ago on an old BM, water had obviously been filled & refilled many times over the years before I got it & slowly rusted the pump impellor away such that there was like 1/2 of the blades missing.

With the engine running faster there was enough cooling, not when slower.

At least get it checked & ruled out.

Thanks for the Reply

The Coolant is still Green, so I wouldn't have thought it is rusted away.
I had a Water Pump replaced for leaking 20+ Years ago and have never really looked at one.
There doesn't seem to be much to them. Just a direct drive off of the Belt.

Due for a Coolant change shortly, so as you say worth checking.
And a replacement is only around £25

For just over £100 I can get Pump, Thermostat, Radiator, Rad Cap and Belt.

For that price the system is probably worth a back-flush & refresh, at least that will be several things ruled out in the process if nothing else.
