Hi I’d be very appreciative if someone could help.

There was a a loud pop sound from the engine and a loud air hissing sound with immediate loss of power(limp mode and MIL on).
I read the codes via obd2 port and got 2 codes.
P0404 & P2453.
I replaced the egr valve with a new one and found a rubber hose that had burst which comes from a metal nipple on what I believe is the DPF so I replaced that.

I wiped the codes and test drove there was still no power and limp mode car with spanner aluminates.

I’ve located a clamp which joins the turbo to what I believe is the dpf which seems to be leaking air or exhaust fumes.

All I can think of is either it needs a new seal or the dpf is so blocked it’s caused the seals and pipe to burst with pressure but other than that I have no idea any advice would be great!

I’ve attached an image the red arrow points at the clamp that’s leaks slightly and the yellow points to the side of which the nipple comes off that the pipe had burst the nipple is roughly a foot lower on the side of what I believe is the dpf.

Thanks in advance
Luke

If either of those clamps were leaking, you'd hear it a mile off...exhaust leaks are loud.

There will be a pipe either side of the DPF routed to a sensor to monitor pressure across it. If there is a problem anywhere hear, that can throw codes.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions, but the symptoms suggest you've got excessive back pressure from the DPF. You could measure the actual back pressure by connecting that small hose to a pressure gauge. Up to about 200 mbar would be normal - if you see much more than that, you need to investigate to find why it's blocking.

A proper diagnosis would involve scanning the ECU to see what faults it's detecting and working back from there.

Thank you for both your reply’s,
The clamp is definitely leaking only from part of it thoit makes a hissing noise I can feel it the fumes escaping.

I’ve connected a pressure tester to the pipe I’m getting between .4 - .5 of a bar so o think that’s 400-500mbar.

There are no codes stored it just keeps going back into limp mode it’ll only do 25 mph flat out on a quick test.

Would you say the dpf is partially blocked on these readings? And could this cause limp mode.

Many thanks
Luke

That seems unlikely. Maybe you need a better scan tool.

If it is in limp mode, there will be a light lit, and codes.

Was that the pressure measured at idle or the maximum you saw while driving it? If it was 500mb at idle it would suggest the DPF is badly blocked.

As Mr2Mike says, I suspect blocked DPF- had the same issue on my gf's Pug 406, back pressure blew off one of the pressure sensor hoses in the end. At first I thought the turbo had blown but then I took the DPF off the car, it was seriously blocked with soot and dried regen fluid.
