I own a 2011 fiesta and today I noticed a knocking sound when the clutch is pressed in and the revs are below 1k rpm. As soon as you rev it above 1k it disappears but it does quickly get louder as it is revved, as it idles at 700rpm it is hard to tell if it increases in frequency as the revs increase as its revs up quickly. It happens in gear and neutral but stops once the clutch starts to engage (even partially).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

99% certain that will be the clutch release bearing.

Will need to be fixed sooner rather than later as it will only get worse and when it finally fails completely it may cause even more problems.

Call a few indy garages for a quote.

It's often worth replacing the complete clutch assembly at the same time depending up on how long the job takes and how worn the clutch is.

Others will be more familiar with a Fiesta - I've never had one. It was about four hours work on my Clio, labour costs are likely to be way in excess of the cost for parts.

Check the end float on the crankshaft, the thrust bearings may be worn out allowing the crank webs to contact the crankcase.

Thank you for the quick replies. Im hoping its the release bearing as this cars costing me enough in repairs as it is ;(
To check the crank float, would I just watch the crank belt part?
Ill link a video of the noise once I get back

Here is the link, it sounds as if something is loose, Im just hoping it not the crank and just something simple.

As thats a petrol Im assuming it doesnt have a dual mass flywhheel, Iv repaired three Fiestas making a noise like that and in every case the three links connecting the centre of the pressure plate to the case had broken and the machined face was floating free.

Would you be able to advise on what needs replacing as Im trying to weight up my options. Ive tried to get a few qoutes and got £400 to replace the clutch but the sales lady didnt think that included a replacement flywheel. Im thinking do I just sell it for spares and buy a crap box with whats left as Ive spent £400 fixing it already in my 3 months of owning the lemon frown
Ill ring ford tomorrow to check if its a dual mass flywheel as Ive been told yes and no but different mechanics
Thank you for all the help

If its a broken pressure plate then you will need a clutch kit , and 3 litres of gear oil, between 3 and 400 pounds would be about right for the repair.

I would think a 2011 Fiesta would still be worth at least £3000.

Ive come across lots of cracked pressure plates where people have been working vehicles hard and abusing the clutch, but the only vehicle I have ever seen the centre of the pressure plate break completely free was on the 3 Fiestas.

Normally it would as its only got about 57k miles but its a cat D car with parking bumps and grazes
I'll keep looking for qoutes on a clutch and take it in for a proper diagnoses. A garage near me charges £48 to diagnose the problem but I want to find out what happens if they replace parts and it the noise persists.
Best qoute so far is just under £400
Thanks for your help
