Hi there

Having a bit of a night mare I've got a insignia 2.0 turbo and it's overheating I've changed the thermostat but it's still doing it. The header tank emptys most of the water. And the pipes seem presharised someone has suggested head gasket. But I have no clue about cars so not sure. Only had it mot a week ago and car has been running fine upto this point.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks

HGF blowing into the cooling system would typically leave scum and froth in the coolant, and a block test would confirm that. With the symptoms as obvious as you describe it should be straight forward to diagnose, but given your disclaimer you might want to have a professional diagnose it for you.

Thanks for the reply that's what I'm thinking of doing get a mobile mechanic out to come and take a look. Just don't want to be ripped off. My brother has the same car and actually has the same symptoms believe or not. His got someone coming out Tuesday to change the water pump from click mechanics.

1. You wasted your money on a thermostat.

2. Your brother is wasting his money on the water pump.

3. You are wasting your money getting a mobile mechanic out.

Why on earth would you think a man with some tools in a van is better at the job that a competent mechanic in a properly equipped workshop with a traceable address and a company name and a client base that trusts him.

You BOTH need to get the cars to a competent mechanic to do a diagnosis of the issues.

You say you don't want to get ripped off & yet you are both ripping yourselves off.

Find a local independent garage with a good reputation and make an appointment with them to diagnose it. You can drive it a few miles - just take it gently.

Thanks for the reply but as for me at the minute its cost me £7.29 for a thermostat not really wasted that much at the minute. But I know what your saying about taking it to a workshop. But as I've stated not knowing much about cars didn't know what damage it would do in driving it.
