Looking for an electrical connector.

I am looking for a 4 pin electrical connector for a project. It must be fairly robust, seal against moisture when plugged in and be capable of around 10A per pin at 12V. Ideally one end would be PCB mount and the other a free plug.

There are a few Automotive connectors that come close but none seem to have a hood or cover where the cables leave the connector, they just have individual wires coming out which is no good for my application. Cars must have lots of nice connectors I haven't seen. Anybody familiar with something that may fit the bill ?

Not quite PCB mount at the fixed end but could easily be mounted.

Is the PCB end going to be a sealed box?

Yes thank you, they are quite nice connectors and are reasonably priced. Although not intended for PCB mount can be used as such. Problem is they mount from the front of the panel not the rear. Otherwise very close to what I need

I cant see how a sealed connector can be PCB mounted.
If the PCB is to be sealed it will be in some sort of enclosure (Box) in which case a bulkhead mounted sealed connector should be fairly straight forward.

Deutsch do a range of low cost, plastic connectors that have pcb tails and sealed wire exits:

Google "Deutsch dtm" and "Deutsch dt" series connectors

DTM series has 20 gauge pins are rated at 7.5A at 25degC with all contacts continuously fully loaded. if you aren't fully loading all the pins, and aren't running at max current continuously then you can get more current through them, but obviously you'd have to test this as you'd be outside the datasheet recommendation. Alternatively, just double up the high current pins.

Alternatively the DT series uses 16 gauge contacts for up to 13A per pin, but it's a significantly bigger (physically) connector so you may want to use a dtm series one if you are space constrained

Why dont you have the pcb somewhere nice and dry and run cables to the wet area [dont forget your drip loop]

Thank you for the suggestions. I already use the DTM connectors for cable to cable joints but hadn't noticed that they do a PCB version. I do find their on line catalogue very difficult to navigate, figuring out what they do offer is quite challenging.

Unfortunately it's the same with most connector manufacturers! I must spend at least 50% of my time trying to work out what is what when it comes to specing and ordering connectors! And when you do MIL spec stuff it gets even harder! (often the contacts are not cross linked to the housings, and i mean, who wants to buy just the housings!!!)
