Crossflow engine numbers

I need help, I've just got a 1600 Mk 2 gear, it has the wrong engine in, on the logbook the Engine number is 711MCO15AA can anyone explain this please

Ok - I've been out in the dark with a torch, the actual number on the block is M O4 0 091 or H G4 0 091 - The "G" could be a 0 or an O and the "M" could be an H.

At that age it may have had several engines in there ! what difference does it make what the log book say?

OK - so the log book numbers 711MCO15AA Must be the casting number, sent off to DVLA by mistake, so can anyone help with the numbers I got off the top of the block (Where the M could be H or the G an O

On the Crossflow the casting part number is cast in the side of the cylinder block. The engine number is stamped into a small projection of the flame face that pokes out between exhaust ports 3 & 4. Most have probably been machined off by now.
