Mk4 Mondeo side light intermittent fault

My otherwise reliable Mk4 Mondeo has an intermittently working side light on the driver's side. It has been like this for quite a while, but it did it during the MOT last week...

I have tried, as suggested on various websites, disconnecting the battery for an hour. It has not repaired it.

Any suggestions?

Have u tried replacing the bulb.....

Take the bulb out and clean the contacts?
