Hello,

My mother has a VW scirocco 2.0 TDI 140, and I have a Audi A3 TDI 140. Both engines are supposed to have ~300 Nm of torque at around 1700 rpm. You can feel significant torque in my car as the turbo comes in, however, in comparison the Scirocco has noticeably less torque, far less in fact.

It isnt showing a warning light and I cant seem to hear a boost leak.

What can cause the boost/torque to drop off so much, are there any parts that should be checked to point to particular problems.

Is the gearing the same? Obviously even a small difference in gearing would make a big difference to the acceleration. Even differences in the seat, driver position, engine sound could affect your perception of performance.

You could check the real-world acceleration times and fuel consumption against the road test figures to reassure yourself that both cars are performing normally.

Probably not, but even so the difference is huge, the VW feels almost gutless in comparison.

I might try and disconnect the MAF sensor tomorrow and see if the fuelling changes

If you have an OBD II adapter it should be possible to find how much boost you're getting on each engine.

Are they the same engine codes? The Older A3s had PD engines, later CR engines had similar power but smoother and much more linear power delivery.
