Hi guys, excuse the lomg post.

I have the new shape Vauxhall Corsa (15 plate). It went in for some body repairs which ended up taking 2 months! Dont ask lol.

So on collection of my car driving it back i noticed it was stuttering through the rev range. So for example as i accelerate through the rev range during this it will stutter a few times.
I presume it has pretty much been sitting around for 2 months so kind of expected it a little bit.

There is not loss of power so to speak it just feels like it running a bit rough. It has been a couple weeks now and i have filled it up with BP ultimate a couple times to see if that helps clear it up.
I have also given it a Italian tune up down the motorway to see if that helped.

Overall it is running way better but when i am cruising along between 1500 and 2000ish rpm it sometimes stutters. Also when 'pressing on' a bit i get it a bit too.

Any suggestions for something i can try without having to take it to a garage for a diagnosis?

Petrol or diesel?

Do the usual things - take out the spark / glow plugs and check them. Check the intakes for any debris... Ideally you need to connect it up to a laptop and see if it throws up any error codes.

Otherwise, take it to a garage / call a car-savvy mate. Could be so many things...

Did they pressure wash the engine bay to make it look nice for you? That can cause all sorts of issues, I've had that from repair shops a couple of times now.

Coil packs used to be an issue on earlier Corsas.

Hard to tell without looking at car. Under warranty?

The car is now out of warranty. It was running perfectly fine before it went in. I think it just sitting around for 2 months caused it.

I will check the spark plugs and air filter at the weekend to see if there is anything visible.

Do you think dust from the body shop has somehow got into the air filter from the time it was there?

Have you filled it up since.
If not then fresh fuel might help otherwise it will have been sitting in the tank for a while.

Also if the battery has been disconnected has the ECU dropped into some sort of limp home state.

Dust in air filter won’t cause that.

Stuttering will probably something to do with air fuel mix so maybe maf sensor or so. Especially if happens at same rpm all time or could just be fuel that’s sat in there for a while.

Yes it has fresh fuel in it. I have filled it up twice now since picking it up. This was my first thought on what the issue might be.
With new fuel and being driven daily it has improved alot since ive picked it up, it just still has its moments though when going through the revs.

Seen a few late corsa with “full” history that have never had the plugs changed and huge plug gaps causing the hesitation with mileages as low as 30k

First checks would be injector loom or coil packs, these can degrade but work well until they are pushed a bit harder and then they cant carry the current/duration demanded. have you got any kind of diagnostic computer? Intermittent faults wont put the engine light on but will still be logged as a fault in the ecu.

If it has taken 2 months for a body repair i'm guessing it has had a fair shunt, any wires trapped/squeezed when that happened causing shorts to the common ground (body).

i know that some ecu's do not like spray booth ovens depending on the temperatures involved. some handbooks say to remove the ecu if the car is going for paint in an oven, check your handbook and see what it says.

i only say this as you dont seem to suggest there was any problem prior to it going in for the bodywork.somethings happened since you dropped it off there....
