Its difficult to change gear, and when its in gear, it runs away as peddle low making biting point low after speaking to a few people ,they say its expensive to replace DMF and PLate ,but my question is is it both or just plate needs replacing ? thanks

If the pedal is low, you may just have a leak in the system. Have you checked the fluid level?

Could be a hydraulic issue, or it could be the clutch.

And condition of either clutch or flywheel will not be able to be ascertained until it's all apart. but DMF's in general are notoriously unreliable and very much a wear and tear item.

Check for leaks 1st wink also external slave cylinder so your in luck (no gearbox removal required) if its failed, may be worth bleeding clutch 1st as clutch fluid degrades over time like brake-fluid but no fker ever renews it as part of a brake-fluid service inc garages the lazy bds , take you half hour at worst with an assistant keep brake reservoir topped up (common to clutch and brake) it costs nowt in realty and wont make things worse if it is indeed a clutch assy problem

Dual-mas flywheels are not intended for infinite life; by their nature (absorbing energy from the vibrations of the engine) they do wear. On youtube, LUX describe maintenance checks that can be performed to ascertain if the DMF is within, or has exceeded, i's serviceable life. They are expensive to replace, and their lifespan varies wildy in line with the driving conditions and the driving style of the vehicle operator.

If your going to split engine and box to do a clutch you may as well do the flywheel Sod’s law dictates the flywheel will go a few mikes after you get it all back together

I'm doing this project right now on an X type jaguar. It's a big job. My clutch was completely gone. Goold luck.
