A4 1.9TDI engine clean?

Hi

After 190,000 miles my reliable 16 year old A4 (PD130) is starting to struggle. Goes into a sort of limp mode 10 minutes after driving.

I'm thinking the EGR valve would be a good place to start. Am I better getting it off and giving it a good clean or can I just get someone to come and run one of these engine carbon clean things through it?

Any thoughts?

I would go for MAF first.

If the ECU is actually going into a fault mode, it would record faults codes indicating why.

I think getting the fault codes read and doing some proper investigation would be better than just guessing and throwing parts at it?
