Can anyone help please? My car developed a misfire and a rattle at the beginning of the year, I took it to my local garage who told me the rocker had jumped off an exhaust valve, the collets had come out of the valve spring and the valve had bent. He removed the cylinder head fitted a new valve replaced the collets and fitted a new hydraulic tappet (lifter). However just over a 1000 miles later the car has broken down, I've removed the rocker cover to find that the same thing has occurred again on another cylinder. Can anyone suggest a reason for this fault re-occurring and do you feel the garage should correct the fault? Thanks.

It happened once, it wasn't the garage fault. Why is second 1 their fault? Did they suggest replacing all lifters and associated bits, and to reseat the other valves? Expensive option I guess.

High revving engine ?
