I knew my Citroen Xsara was smoking a bit on startup. I recorded it to get a better look.

Looking at the colours, can anyone suggest what the problem is?

Its a HDI 90 2.0L engine. The car is a 2002 model with 116k miles on the clock

When you burn a hydrocarbon you get some smoke, you have some smoke, not a problem.

I had a 306 HDi 130K miles, same engine and it was super noisy and MPG's were way down until I chucked a bottle of redux in the tank and that made a helluva difference

Worth the £2 when on offer in Asda or Tesco

Blue smoke is usually oil, white smoke is usually condensation/water.

Could be burning old oil really, have you had it serviced at all?
