Astra j 1.6 Sri 2012 crank position sensor problem
Discussion
Hoya everyone just wanna thank any help in advance...
Pick the car up today from my local trusted garage (not a dodgy back alley thing)
Had the crank position sensor changed as fault code reader come up with crank position sensor fail...
When he took the old one out he realise it was covered in oil... just wanna know what could have caused this rather than stripping it down to find out... is the any oil seals near the sensor that could have caused this...
cheers jordan

Where is it?
I've got an issue at the minute with oil leaking around my crank position sensor. It's probably the main crank seal on the front of the engine behind the timing belt pulley. But that's a Suzuki Vitara and the sensor is under the engine pointing upwards at the front of the sump. I hope you've something less awkward.

If it looks like this one then I think it's in the sump.

I'd be worried if it wasn't oily.
