MX5 - Engine Noise

Hi,

Have recently noticed a tapping / clacking type noise from the top end of my 98 mk 1.8 - rather than describe it, have taken a video

Thought it might be a plug lead arcing but have replaced them all and still have the same noise.

Any help much appreciated.

Check the spark plug tightness.

I had a similar noise and, fearing a complete top-end failure, had it booked in for professional diagnosis.

That was an annoying £100

An exhaust header leak can sound remarkably mechanical.
