Poor acceleration/lack of power on Ford Ranger 3.2 Auto
Discussion
My Ranger is fine around town and accelerates fine on short journeys, but on long journeys the acceleration/power gets so bad that I lose speed on inclines and sometimes even with my foot to the floor the revs don't get much above 2000. I thought it might be the EGR but the values come out fine on that. As does the MAP and MAF. I'm thinking it must be something that's getting hot on the long journeys and screwing everything up. Stopping for a break helps, but not much, which would fit with something still being hot. Anyone got any ideas? Ford can't look at it for 10 days and I really need to use it to go on holiday very soon if possible. Appreciate the help people.

Could be many things including a Cat blockage, had exactly that on an e39 523 several years ago, the cat had become separated from its housing & slid forward eventually wearing itself to the shape of the housing & then the only through passage for exhaust gasses was the bit that lined up with the outlet causing a restriction.
