Evoque sd4 wrong engine oil?
Discussion
My car needs the following oil according to LR:
WSS-M2C934-B. If unavailable 5W-30 engine oils to ACEA C2 specification may be used
I’ve discovered that 3000 miles ago, my father in law topped up with 1.5l of the correct viscosity of fully synth diesel oil but not that spec. He used this:
Halfords 5W30 Ford Fully Synthetic Motor Oil 5L
The Halfords 5W30 Ford Fully Synthetic Motor Oil 5 Litres is formulated to the same protection & performance standards as leading brands and meets the requirements of Ford WSS-M2C-913-C. The oil is suitable for Ford vehicles from 2006 onwards, some Volvo vehicles and where ACEA A1/B1 or Ford WSS-M2C-913-A/B are recommended.
The car has just been in for a service and the tech told my wife the dpf has signes of the car not being used optimally and advised her to do some longer runs monthly at speed.
We do use the car for a number of short journeys as well as longer journeys.
It has done 60k miles and is 7 years old
Is there a chance that using a non dpf friendly oil has caused an issue even over 3000 miles? The oil has now been replaced. I need to call the shop on Monday and ask for more technical details.

Unlikely, but in any case what's done is done. If the system is not able to regen properly this is certain to cause a problem so the technicians advice is really the thing to focus on.
