Checking a Diesel Engine for Hydrolock
Discussion
Unfortunately my lad thought his BMW 118d (F21) was amphibious, it isn't

We have recovered the car which had 6 inches of River Trent in the footwells and drained and gutted the interior to dry and sort the electronics. I have some queries on the electronics which I will post in the BMW section. However I need to check if water has got in to the engine and if so how much damage has it done. I have checked the dipstick and there is no evidence of water in the sump however the air filter is soaking and there are traces of water in the intake, albeit small amounts but these could have drained dry by now. Question is do I pull the injectors, the glow plugs or both before I try turning it over by hand? Any other tips or pointers you guys in the know may have would be appreciated.
One happy daddy!
