2016 Peugeot 308 intercooler and cam belt

Looking for a bit of advice. My car is currently sat at Peugeot with a repair bill of over 2300 I have been told the cam belt is showing signs of excessive wear and oil on it which has apparently left debris in the oil pump, I m bei g told that the intercooler is the main cause of these problem, bare in mind the vehicle is 3.5 years old with 38k on the clock and have been told the cam belt is good for 80k or 10 years am I correct in thinking that it is near impossible for na intercooler to cause this?

You should be getting that diagnosis in writing given the costs involved. Have you got the actual report to show us? I suspect we'll find that the actual diagnosis mentions a turbo failure.

I am going to ask for the diagnosis etc, it's a 1.2 puretech 130 hp engine

So update after today's visit to Robins and day
They have now said that yes the cambelt and oil pump need changing and after questioning them on the I tercooler situation they said its been misinterpreted incorrectly by the guy who rang me and are saying the engine needs decoking, that's some pretty impressive misinterpretation. Started to wonder if I have just brought a big problem vehicle

Making slight progress in that my local dealer have admitted they provided incorrect information to customer care and have also said that no external cause of the issue so I'm hoping this will mean that they cough up and sort it

Is it still in warranty? Was it bought from and serviced by them?

These engines are prone to coking-up. Usually the first symptom is the car will hesitate/stutter for a couple of seconds when accelerating hard from around 60mph. Peugeot have a series of steps they follow to resolve this and the final one is "replace engine".

It is 6 weeks out of warranty and it was brought from a Robins and day peugeot, from my unstanding the de coking will be clean g the inlet manifold, is replacing the engine a little drastic for that, now I k ow it is an issue I will make sure I take the car out for longer than normal trips more regularly to keep the carbon from building up.
Surely once cleaned it should be ok as I didn't notice any performance issues at all

Mine spent 80% or more of its time on motorways and was run on Shell V Power and it still suffered from coking up. I think that there is definitely an issue with these engines which PSA are trying to keep quiet. There was a thread in Technical about these engines.

What would you say is a good price for getting the engine de coked?

That's where I'm at now, the dealer has sai d there is no external factors so I'm hoping to hear today
