Some engine/trans combos you can get away with converting, some you will not.

Rattles are one thing, broken transmissions or an engine imbalance are another.

If someone has already done this on your platform and proven them to be reliable...then maybe it will be ok.

What engine is it, there must of been tens of millions of v8,s built pre dual mass that seem to get by.

Mercedes M113 5.4 ('55' AMG). They all came with auto boxes. I'm fitting a manual box, which not many have done, and they certainly don't get modified to the extent that i'm going to.

Important info you left out.

So you are not converting from a DMF to SMF. And there was no concern about this causing issues for the existing manual box...because there wasnt one.

As long as the engine was not externally balanced...which is unlikely with an auto and flex plate, then there shouldnt be any issue fitting a regular flywheel to the engine

Ive converted a few autos to manual over the years without any problem but there are some engines where the auto and manual cranks are different, with these only being supplied as an auto that might be worth checking before you get to involved.

The manual box is off another car that did come with a dual mass.
Then I would possibly have concern about box longevity. DMF's give the transmission an easier life.
